in 3...2...1

sisrahtac'a note: errata/addendum: I've got my first chatmate this year!
First chat mate: Gabriel de Leon :D

in 3...2...1... many things will change...

May nalimutan pa ba akong gawin?

14..13..12...

2006 na, in a matter or seconds! haay, pano kaya ang 2006 ko? napaka-tensyonado ko siguro... syempre UPCAT, et al... haay, daming twists sa taong darating! pano ko kaya 'to mapaghahandaan?

8...7...6...

resolutions?!

5...4...

homay! thank you! thank you po!

Sisrahtac’s catharsis

I have slept so much since Saturday, that’s why I have trouble sleeping at night. My body clock turned out to be like that of a call center employee ~ awake at night, sleepy at morning. This mechanism had been effective especially during sembreaks.

On a Sunday evening, I was watching the LOST at Studio 23 when I unintendedly switched the channel. The television then flashed a title, at first I thought it was a plug about a new telenovela, but it was not a series, it was a movie.

The next thing I know, I turned off the set two hours after [around one am] very inspired and spiritually upright.

What I had watched was, ‘Maging akin muli’ a movie directed by Marilou Diaz Abaya. It talks about a deacons’ life. A deacon, in the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Episcopal Churches, is an ordained member of the clergy with a rank immediately below that of a priest ~ or a soon-to-be-ordained priest.

Actually, I had seen its movie poster on one of the bulletin board in the Divine Word Seminary during our retreat recently.

The story is about a deacon [portrayed by Marvin Agustin] who is on his training course to priesthood. He is assigned under the supervision of the kura of a certain town, portrayed by Noel Trinidad. There, Marvin realized the difficulty of being on a way to priest hood, especially experiencing temptations and problems about his self-doubt.

As a deacon, he experienced giving advices to criminals on the death row, giving blessings, and even giving counseling to his ex-girlfriend [whom he broke-up with because of choosing being a priest.]

The story ended, after all the controversies and problems, with Marvin giving the sacrament of baptism ~ he is now a full-pledged priest.

The movie is a very enlightening movie. At first, I want to watch it mainly because the first scenes look like being set in the Divine Word Seminary… but as I got the story, I thought of finishing the movie because of its story.

The movie is perhaps, to recruit young men into priest hood.

But believe it or not, upon watching the movie, the catharsis of it really sank into me to a point where I tend to consider living a blessed life ~ just like that deacon! [Oh my! What would my mother do if I did that!]

Well, based on personal observations, the movie was indeed, effective... very effective!

I do recommend this movie for watching, especially for the boys ~ haha, for you to have a second thought of entering the seminary afterwards!

Amen to that!

Events et.al

12.15

Masyado na talagang mabilis lumipas ang panahon. Hindi ko na ito masubayayan ng mabuti. [I should have included a pensieve in my wish list!] anyways, I think this will be my last catch up post since I will include here the last few highlights of my Dececmber-fest.

December 13 & 14 – Intel Science Fair

It was pretty much like the Sibol, aside from three things; the venue, the topic and the team mates.

The venue was no other than the Science High School of Quezon City, more prestigiously known as the Regional Science High School for the NCR, and more commonly known as Kisay. The pre-judging was held as the School’s covered court. But the congress was held at selected spots at the school.

By the way, here are the school’s official entries [sorry for the lack of details!]

Life science, individual ~ Anna Cabatuando [something about a Krait, a Viper and a Cobra]
Life science, team [1] ~ Jason Rumbaoa, et al. [something about Chanos chanos, a.k.a Bangus]
Life science, team [2] ~ Hazel Villaroma, et al. [something about Abalone and anti-microbial properties]
Physical science, individual ~ Miguel Fudolig [something about carpenter tools]
Physical science, team ~ Clara Obmerga, et al [something about Philippine Cobras]

Our topic was now about Philippine cobras. [gee, from mollusks to reptiles] This topic was the one we have been working since April. This topic was qualified in the Physical Science, team category.

My team mates are Kevin Cena and Clara Obmerga, we are commonly known as either Kevin’s group or Clara’s group, depends on who they like mentioning. The project speaker was Kevin. Luckily, we made it through the pre-judging. Unluckily, however, the congress defense was not that as good.

I’m afraid that out of the five topics, the Science High School of Quezon City, after all of the money spent and lives destroyed, garnered a whooping two places, both of which are third places. Teka, mabuti na ‘yan ~ kesa wala! Congratulations to Anna and Miguel, for making it to ISEF. [Congrats as well to Valerie’s group ~ the jellyfish thingy was pretty good also, and that group dealing with the Janitor Fishes ~ for I had once shared your very ideas…]

Unlike the Sibol, the aftershock of losing [again] was not that heart-pounding as before [or even not at all]. It is not that I didn’t cared much, but mainly because after that Sibol experience, I lost all the positivity that research bears. Actually, until now, I still don’t know the full topic of our paper! [how shameful of me!]

But, personally, I did love that topic…. It’s just… blah, blah…

next!

December 15 – Christmas party

As what I’ve told ‘Sisrahtac’s catch-up: Jay’s wish,’ being the class secretary, I was the one in charged with the foods. Sadly, I just don’t have this sense, that is, the ‘sense of responsibility’ making it another stroke in the tally of our adviser’s ever-so-many frustrations.

But somehow, the last school of the year went out fine ~ except for the food. Let’s just say that the party’s motif is ‘Christmas on diet’ so a few calorie intake is very well recommended. After the very sumptuous feast, was the sermon [shucks! I’m so guilty!] Then the distribution of cards [and pin buttons] followed by the sermon [part two] and ending with up with the exchange gift giving; a repeat.

After the party prevailed the exchanges of Yuletide greetings followed by ‘sa January na lang ha!” and I was one of those ‘late-givers’

The next party I attended, about an hour after noon, is intended for a Bayan-Pipol reunion. I, together with Marella and Jessica, decided to go to KFC and have ourselves with a chicken steak meal, which is my first ‘real’ food intake for that day.

On our way to KFC, a familiar looking teacher greeted me “Merry Christmas ha!” followed by “pataba ka ha!...” it was no other than our very own humanities teacher, Ma’am Ramos. [teka, ganon na ba ako kapayat? Di naman ha! ~ anyways, Merry Christmas Ma’am!]

The reunion of the strongest-ever organization in Avo [ever since third year] continued until four, where we big goodbye and felicitations with one another.

Sisrahtac’s note: How’s the Glitter movie doin’, Angel? Hope you liked it! A Merry Christmas and Glittering New Year! and Jay! salamat sa wallet! A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year din!

Sisrahtac’s catch-up: r-e-t-r-e-a-t-!!!

“mabuti na ‘yan… kesa wala.”

A senior’s life in Kisay is as jammed up as ever, and for the Nth time, everyone is craving for that thing called ‘break.’ Which, for a very rare chance, was understood by the administration, granting a day for our retreat.

Isang araw lang? ~ mabuti na ‘yan… kesa wala.

The day’s trip started at 9:44 in the bus’ clock. I was again, situated at the window side, beside me is my invited guest ~ Anna Cabatuando, which was very considerable for my drowsiness and my lethargic appearance that day. [Gee, sorry, Anna!]

Roughly two hours after, we are inside the ‘lecture hall’ of the Divine Word Seminary, SVD in Tagaytay, Batangas. The hall was pretty big to accommodate around two hundred retreat-seeking souls, but the outside really interests me more. The surroundings were perfect for a flora-lover like me, with lots and lots of greens and flowers to see ~ match it with the drizzly and foggy ambience which condenses and surfaces as dew to the plants. Relaxing, refreshing, invigorating.

Of the three choices, we are [forced and] placed at the SVD Postulancy, some sort of a residence center nearby Divine Word Seminary. It was actually just a curve away and a little walking would not bother. At first I didn’t liked the idea of going there, but a little visiting there for lunch gave me a second thought.

I, together with Gab and Noel, are the occupants of room seven. It is a pretty small room, pero ~ mabuti na ‘yan… kesa wala. It has two beds, but makes it ‘three if compressed,’ a ceiling fan, and a poorly placed lighting source. Below the room number is a verse; “ARISE! And be not afraid…” no wonder this is a place for ‘holy people.’ [by the way, opposite our room is room 10, where Adam, Owen and Domeng is]

Two things in the Postulancy gave me a second thought of disliking the place. First is its pretty good situated gazebo near our dormitory. It is the size of one gazebo at our school, it’s just that it’s colored white and it has a punching bag hanging on one side. This place had been the hang-out place of the group whenever they feel like sick inside the dorm’s holiness.

Second thing is the food ~ yeah! The food! I bet that half of the seminarians there enjoyed their stay there because of the food! [just kidding!] but seriously, the food almost became the ‘deserving factor’ for my thousand bucks.

By the way, here’s the menu:
Lunch – Spaghetti, Chicken, and a Cloud Nine.
Merienda – Pancit Canton and Sky Flakes
Dinner – Tinola, Relyenong Bangus, and Macaroni Salad
Breakfast – Egg, Luncheon Ham, and Hot Chocolate
Pabaon – Egg Sandwich and Plus Juice

Ehem! Backt to the real topic ~ the retreat. So, after eating our lunch, we packed up our things and by the time the bell rang. It’s time for us to go back to Divine Word. That was about one thirty when the program started with the kiddie-activity ‘making melodies with my heart.’ Afterwards we had a prayer, a really odd prayer, called the ‘blossom dance.’ At this point I really want to all those whom I disturbed by the time we are doing this because during this activity, I was laughing to death! [mind you, we are praying!] but I can’t help it, It’s maybe because I’m not used to praying while, err, dancing… especially dancing those steps!

After that blossom dance, the program was again interrupted, and we went down again the Postulancy and had our merienda. By this time, I noticed that the rumored rules where not that strictly implemented ~ tell that to the rampant shoutings and playing cards scattered on rooms! [oops!]

By around five, we are on our way back again the DWS, but it was already six by the time we continued the program. It is a very holy start ~ with the Angelus prayer opening our session. By the way, our speaker for this part is already a priest, in the name or Fr. Arlo [?] Yap, and he had been the speaker throughout the event. [the program is already turning holy, I guess?]

Pretty good speaker, I say. He caught my attention most of the time, and sensible things and stories heard from him. He started the lecture with ‘definition of terms’ between a recollection and a retreat, which followed a couple of definitions of a retreat. He expounded one idea, that is the ‘basket and me,’ a pretty good metaphor, I say. And from that point, he made his strike one to our batch mates, touching some sensitive topics mostly about family matters.

After which, we took a break, meaning another visit to the Postulancy. A [very] dark path leading to the Postulancy had been the talk of the boys for some time but upon the serving of the dinner, everyone is helping themselves for the hot soup. [Mind you! We are on Tagaytay!]

An hour perhaps had passed by the time the session resumed, this time with a new topic, about self-checking and problems with yourself this time. he actually had his famous words “wala sa problema ang problema, ang problema ay nasa nagdadala.” And from that he continued with his realizations about a good and bad parents, then he shared stories about his family, and finally down to his last activity; ‘the five most important persons given to you by God.’

That very activity had been the supposed ‘climax’ of the retreat. He, in his very heart-pounding way, supposed one by one, those five persons die one after the other. And he is pretty effective, in fairness! [maybe, his Ipod and complicated sound system aided!]

Few tears jerked off me, but not to that pounding level, it is maybe because, the crowd is too big to be that emotional, or it just so happened that I can’t believe his story, but somehow, I admit, kinilabutan ako kahit papaano.
Following the said event, though the activity speaks of family matters, it resulted to friends greeting, hugging and crying with each other. Just as what you would expect a typical retreat would be. I believe that had been the most awaited time by enemies and people with hard feelings against someone… I, during those times, am busy embracing and talking with my friends as well.

It was followed by the Palanca-thing distributed by the advisers, mainly to add up to the drama. But since I didn’t have any, aside from a message from my adviser written in a card, I continued with my friendship-caring sessions.

The session ended up with a mass and some more friendly talks. We went to our respective destinations by around eleven forty.

My predictions are correct that I would not fell asleep until two thirty. After the said session, many seem to be still awake and so why not help yourself with a game of cards, I guess?

After a few games, or just lack of interest with Domeng’s century-old cards, we decided to have some midnight stroll. The four of us who are still awake, [noel and owen are sleeping sound already] attempted to have a walk at the mountain side, but I guess the guts and/or the resistance to cold aren’t enough. Instead, we had ourselves some talk [boys’ talk, technically], a very intimate and meaningful talk, featuring our lives and some sensitive thingies within us, blah blah… [sorta confidential, actually] and it lasted ‘till three, I guess?

It was already past six when an awake Noel greeted me a good morning, but what really woke me up is the [very] cold, heater-less water of the Postulancy shower. After eating breakfast, we packed up our things, had some sunflower picking and picture taking as well, and being in the company of my female buddies once again!

An unfinished Constantine movie and a clock declaring 12:01 pm in the bus greeted the retreat trip goodbye, and off we go back to the norms.

Sisrahtac’s catch-up: Kris-Kringle for this week; Something Serious

This is my last post about that Carolfest, anyways. It’s just that I had been [somehow] deeply affected by the event.

‘nanalo na ang mga nanalo,

natalo na ang mga hindi dapat matalo’

MY stand: Okay lang namang matalo.

For the Nth time, you’ve heard it from my very classmates, where are those? Is there such? Such guidelines only existed by the time ‘they’ have judges us [imagine! Telling the guidelines after the competition? San ka pa?!] If they had just given [or informed] our class about the guidelines, do you think magpapakabaliw kaming mag-practice ng something na magpapa-disqualify sa amin? C’mon!

Well, it is just that INNOCENCE is NOT, in any way, an EXCUSE

Yes, such innocence is not an excuse, but I believe your IRRESPONSIBLITY [and senility] is far more UNEXCUSABLE in this matter. As what I’ve said earlier, do you think magpapakabaliw kaming mag-practice ng something na magpapa-disqualify sa amin? ~ unless we really don’t know that It’s wrong!

See, ikaw na ang nagsabi, you don’t know it’s wrong!

Mind you, it is no only us who had been liable for your wrongdoings, as a matter of fact, there are FOUR of them. Which means, yung tatlong hindi naka-violate ang siguradong pasok… for the reason na wala silang viniolate.

Wala silang na-violate, so they are far more DESERVING and BETTER, I guess?

Let me quote some statements by the judges, themselves; “Sayang kayo, kung hindi lang dahil sa guidelines, pasok kayo.”

Furthermore, I hope this excerpt from a conversation, this time, from another judge, enlighten you up regarding your definition of qualifying the better.

“Ma’am, kung wala yung mga guidelines, pasok pa rin po ba kami?”
“kung walang guidelines, SYEMPRE pasok kayo!”
“Ma’am, [for the sake of self-esteem], kung pasok po kami ano pong place namin? [sa inyo]
“hmm… surely, you should have belonged on the UPPER TWO. Actually, muntik na… yun nga lang, mas may dynamics sila…”

Sino ba naman ang hindi manghihinayang niyan!

Bakit ba ganyan kalakas ng tama sa inyo? Ano ba place nyo with the guidelines?

5.5.4

But it’s just a competition! Someone wins and someone loses, its just that…

As what I’ve said earlier, Okay lang namang matalo. Kung deserved mong matalo. oo na! ‘nanalo na ang mga nanalo, natalo na ang mga hindi dapat matalo’ but the thing is, kung ganyan ang paniniwala mo, what’s the use of your practices? Wala ka bang goal or even sense of struggling?

It’s also a matter of fairness. Giving something what someone deserves. And I strongly affirm that we do not deserve it! Tanggalin na yung mga hirap, sacrifice, money, time… yung factor na lang na we would have been there as well, wearing our costumes for the second time, proudly singing our piece ~ mainly because we deserve it… and it is just right for us to present again during that finals.

Of course hindi na pwede yung kantahin ulit yan, tanggap na naman yan eh, one thing na lang siguro; for them [they-who-know-who-they-are] should personally recognize their mistakes and see for themselves what did their wrongdoings resulted.

I can’t help it. Lalo na last time na namin ‘to.

…pero sige na nga, ibaon na ‘to sa limot, tama na siguro yung thought na even the ‘two judges,’ themselves, have personally testified to me the class’ capabilities ~ and that’s where the true score lies.

At least nagbonding kami sa Mcdo! Napatunayan kong there had been a point where masasabi kong we acted as a class... a real class... Grabe ha! P25 x 11 din yon!

Congratulations sa mga nanalo at
Merry Christmas!

Sisrahtac’s catch-up: Kabanata 40: Sina at Beethoven at Ben Zayb

Sisrahtac’s note: Heavens! I don’t even know what some sort of a very corny spirit infiltrated my senses, which made me, write this ‘consider-it-a-satire’ work of rubbish. Once again, not suitable for sensible persons, parental and ultra-low sense of humor is advised

Sapagkat walang mapulot na katuturan ang mamamahayag sa kanyang ‘kausap’ at mukhang nadarama na niya ang kanyang kabobohan upang makipag-usap sa isang papel, hindi na nagtanong muli sa Ben Zayb, imbis binulyawan ito;

“aba’y loko-lokong papel ka pala eh! Sino ka ba? Sinabi kong mag-tagalog ka na lang o mag-espanyol, pilit mo pa ring ginagamit ang wikang iyan! IPINAGBABAWAL KO ‘YAN MULA NGAYON! Nakita mong hindi ko maintindihan eh! Ipinapamukha mo bang hindi ako kasing galing mo? Gusto mo bang sunugin kita? May lampara yata ako rito! Kaya ka siguro narito sa tambakan sapagkat…”

Habang nagsasalita ang matapobreng Ben Zayb, may isang aninong nabanaagan ang kanyang kaliwang mata, nilingon niya ito.

Hindi na natapos ng dating mamamahayag at ngayo’y isa nang antropologo ang kanyang sinasabi.

Sisrahtac’s catch-up: Weihnachtslied und Weihnachten

T’was around eight in the evening already, but I had just arrived home.
Anong nangyari kanina? My mother inquired, though she already knew what happened.
I gave no answer, except for a very uncommunicative nod.

I was staring blankly at the TV, nibbling on the Mr Chips I’ve bought at the nearby convenience store before I went home. As the people around me recognized my need for silence, I went upstairs and had a time for some self recollection.

December six, seven five in the morning, it was a no ordinary day.

The school turned out to be a mini-musica conservatorio, where everyone’s busy rehearsing and having their last-minute polishing in their presentations. It was the time of the year where everyone likes forming that U-shaped structure with one person at the front who sways his or her hand, reminding his or her classmates to maintain that fake wide smile. It is the time of the year where revenues of voice coaches’ increase and showdowns are indirectly provoked by some… uhm, teachers.

Avogadro 4 is of no exception to this Yuletide hullabaloo. Considering that it’s already the last time we will be performing in a Carolfest, almost everyone is in the ‘give-your-best-because-it’s-the-last-time ‘spirit of competition.

By nine in the morning, the class decided to have a break, and the motion of whether to include the ‘Love toward countless…’ was settled. The first years are in the midst of their presentation. Two more years, and the stage is ours.

Ten thirty, strips of cloths, maroon for the tenors and bright red for the bass are already up for grabs! It is confirmed that our voice coach will be unable to come that day, may be because she’s not formally informed about the date. I can hear the Becquerel practicing their piece in their room, so as the Curie and Darwin.

Twelve noon, practice resumes, the final positions’ being polished, outside the corridor are some Curie girls are already wearing their [cute and unique] red costumes. I’ve heard that the third years are already done.

Everyone is already on their costumes by one thirty, peach-colored bolero for the sopranos and magenta for altos, both of which matched with g.skirts. After praying, everyone proceeded to the stage.

The fourth year CarolFest, hosted by Janica and Monci has formally started with the presentation of the Curie section. If I am not mistaken, we are the third on the row;

Judges;
Mrs. Natividad Ramos (a humanities teacher, to check the art perhaps? :D)
Mrs Zenaida Nicholas (property custodian, but has a pretty reliable background in music)
Ms Pilar Carmona (a science-research teacher. period. [Question mark])

The presentation goes this way [needs a higher level of imagination, shall we proceed?]

The entrance is a chant using two lines from C.Orff’s ‘Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi’

O Fortuna, velut Luna, status variabilis,

semper crescis, aut decrescis, vita detestabilis

Then our English song, which is "Ode to Joy" by Schiller (Translated by Henry Chapman);
From Ludwig Van Beethoven's 9th Symphony in D-Minor

Joy, thou spark from flame immortal,
Daughter of Elysium,
Drunk with fire, thou heav'n-born goddess,
We invade thy halidom!
Let thy magic bring together
All whom earth-born laws divide,
All mankind shall be as brothers
'Neath thy tender wings and wide.

Love o'er countless millions swelling
Wafts one kiss to all the world

Then immediately afterwards, it’s German translation;
Ode: An Die Freude [in vivace]

Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum!
Deine Zauber binden wieder,
Was die Mode streng geteilt;
Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
Wo dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

Finally, our Tagalog song,
Heto na naman, with music and lyrics by Ryan Cayabyab

badum badum (dut dut dut dut dut dut dut)
badum badum (dut dut dut dut dut dut)
badum badum

(1) heto na naman ang masayang panahon
ubas at mansanas na kahon kahon
said na ang bulsapagod pa ang paa
kahahanap ng regalong mura't maganda

(2) heto na naman ang ganitong panahon
kundi kalendaryo ay maalat na hamon
wala na bang iba?fruitcake na luma,
exchange gift na diary chocolate at sabon

CHORUS:
wala na ba kundi panandaliang saya?
wala na ba kundi ako, ikaw at siya?

nalilimutan natin kung bakit may Pasko
isang nagmamahal na Diyosa
ng sinilang sa mundo
(ding dong ding dong ding dong ding 2x)

Heto na naman mga awit ng panahon
Si Santa Claus at Rudolph, nagtipun-tipon
wonderland ni Johnny, puting Pasko ni Crosby
Ano na nga yung hit ni Michael Jackson?(why don't you..)

Repeat 2, then chorus

maligayang pasko
maligayang Pasko
maligayang Pasko
maligayang Pasko
Sa inyo (dum dum)

We end our presentation, still, with a chant from C.Orff’s ‘Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi’

The next thing I know, I ~ together with twenty-two others, just finished our 11th Mcdo large fries, still craving for more... celebrating the victory that was ours.

Sisrahtac’s catch-up: cab talk

12.5

Sisrahtac’s note: most of the parts of the conversation are removed, but it does not affect the general message imparted by my alter-ego.

By seven forty in the drizzly evening at SM North, a group of five students, four of which are high school and the other one is college, called for a taxi tagged PWX 759. (?)

Ate, salamat sa libre!
Oo nga! Ang bait mo naman!
Sige lang, naaawa ako sa inyo eh… *laughs*
Naawa? Nanlibre ka nga, iced tea naman! Pano na boses namin neto!
…Yun lang! *laughs*
Opo, uy! *pats the one on the passenger’s seat* ituro mo kung paano.
Hala… *laughts*
Saan ba ruta nyo, kuya?
Ano ka ba ate, interviewhin ba? *laughs*

Ang traffic! Ano ba yan!
Ano pa kaya ‘pag nag-FX pa tayo…
Bait mo talaga, ate!
Hay nako, basta gusto ko nang umuwi! *fake sobs, then laughs*
Teka ate, sabog ba?
Sino, kayo? *pauses* haay, nako! *laughs*
Di nga, seryoso…
Maganda na, lalo na yung second to the last… di’ba nasayo monmon…
O! nasayo pala yan! *sees the tape recorder*kanina pinagkakaguluhan yan ha!
Pakinig! *unexpected choral*
Kuya, gumagana ba yang player nyo dyan?
Hindi ko pa nasusubukan yan eh. Wag na lang, baka kainin eh *laughs*

*moments later, a weak playback sound registers*
Joy thou spark…
Ganda naman, diba? Ano ate?
Pano mo nalaman, ate?
Eh diba nag-uusap kayo kanina… at tsaka yung mga malakas kanina? Ano ba yon?
**** section yon diba?
Basta banda dun… wag kayong maastigan yon, tawag ‘don, mayabang…
Yes, naman ate!
Oo kaya! Basta, wag kayong mainsecure…
Love toward countless…
*laughs* sabog!
Ano po ba kayo, choir?
Ano po manong?
Opo… pero ngayong pasko lang… *laughs*
Competition po eh, carolfest.
Sang school kayo?

Sa Wednesday po, elims… the day after, finals na…
Punta kayo ate ha!
Oo! Ipagluluto ko pa nga kayo eh…
O?! *choral* ng ano?
Ano ba yon, yung parang rice in a box…
Wow!
*laughs*
Oo nga, di tulag nung sa **** last year, diba masungit daw?
*laughs*
Basta! May laban kayo! May dadalin pa nga akong digicam, video cam, lahat na! *laughs*

…Imperatrix mundi… *writes the title, the composer on a paper*
Syempre! Ano ka ba! *laughs*

After an hour or so, the male student went down the cab, from then on, no more further statements are heard.

Get the meaning? No?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

My time piece says four forty, nearly half an hour to go before pencils down in this linguistics test. Would you believe this? Learning a fabricated-hypothetical language in just an hour or two? In the middle of hopelessness and impatience, I closed the 35-paged DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination test booklet, closed my eyes for a while, turned left, and then right.

The College of Engineering theatre is undeniably new. [or newly renovated, I say] Hours before, around 11 am, the first batch of takers went out of the doors [with some Scientians, of course] saying “Ang saya ng Linguistics!”… Well, it’s really one hell of a funny thing! [Gosh, is this how you define funny?!]

To my right are my two friends, Lorraine and Cleo, both of which seem to be as tensed but not as hopeless as me. We three are on the front most row, behind us are also high school students [plurality of which from pisay] taking the most prioritized scholarship grant examination.

I also managed to see some long lost friends, tracing back to my elem years, pero masyado na yatang nagbago itsura namin at hindi namin nakilala ang isa’t-isa nang biglaan! [ui! vizmanos!]

Mind you, it is not only this ‘hypothetical language’ that showcased the almost 400-item exam, they had also some servings of memory tests, [with stars, lines, rays, shaded and non-shaded hearts, and triangles] two maze tests [with an easily-predicted left-then-right path] then there goes science and quantitative numbers afterwards.

After accompanying a friend of mine to a church, by seven thirty, my day ended… so as my schedule of my entrance tests. God, thanks!

I, realizing that my language-related courses will not be under consideration in this grant, had just taken this test out of luck… who knows?

magiging bio-chemist pala ako! :)

E

E is for the ever-exhilarating, seemingly exaggerated endured weeks encountered, from equestrian-ish emotions to equally elating experiences.

E is for the ecce homo I see on eccrine-active Scientians especially with the ever-so-excruciating schedules. Alas! From epitomes to epitaphs.

E is for the ending of El Fili, the budget report, the Beelzebub and also the entry of new English student educators. [ehem!]

E is also for the ebullient Elysium’s daughter and the eager everyday voice exercises for the near esteemed-slash-exciting competition.

E is not only of the ear candy on afternoons, but otalgia-slash-earache experienced by our ever-enlivening and effervescent voice coach.

E is for the electric lights on the evening’s environs equaled by the exquisite sky where Mars and Venus are exceptionally visible.

E undeniably is for the ‘underground economy’ and the enforced expensive fees. The elite’s e pluribus unum earnings.

E is for my ecstatic expert guide, the edgy economics encounter and the ever-so-memorable exemplary extras, such as a trophy with an E.

E is indeed, about expectations, exemplarity and the exfoliating year.

End.

11.27.05…Happy New Year!

Oops! Don’t get me wrong guys, it really a new year tomorrow!

I mean, a Liturgical New Year!

Yah, before you say it, I know you’re shocked about me telling about this stuff, but mind you… I’m still a Roman Catholic, anyways.

Well, for the sake of information and communication, tomorrow marks the end of the Liturgical Year 2005 and so opens the Liturgical Year 2006. Liturgical years start with the Advent Season [the four-week period before Christmas] which means tomorrow is also the start of the Advent.

Advent is for preparation, preparing ourselves for Christmas, that’s why it is said to be the anticipation period.

Speaking of preparation, how about looking at your schedules, BOOM! Did your hear your scheduler just said
“so many advents you’ve forgotten?”

Or worse, just like what mine said… “It’s too late…”

Well… I bet you’re saying the lazy-man’s dogma; “better late than never!”
